The important part is in the first paragraph: CoverBridge is fictional, no coverage can be obtained here, and nothing on this site is licensed insurance advice.

What this site is
CoverBridge is a fictional company. This site is a design and engineering demonstration built to show how an ACA Health Insurance Marketplace enrollment platform could work. It is not a licensed insurance producer, not a web broker, not registered with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and not affiliated with healthcare.gov, any state marketplace, or any insurance carrier.
No coverage can be obtained through this site. No application submitted here reaches anyone. No advice given here is licensed advice.
Not insurance advice
Everything on this site is general information about how the Affordable Care Act marketplace works. The mechanics described are accurate to the best of our knowledge, but nothing here takes account of your specific circumstances, and general information is not the same thing as advice.
Insurance producers are licensed state by state and are subject to duties that a demonstration site cannot discharge. Before making any decision about health coverage, consult a licensed producer in your state, a certified navigator, or the marketplace itself.
About the subsidy estimator
The estimator implements a simplified but structurally faithful model of the premium tax credit calculation. It uses the federal poverty guidelines by household size, the IRS applicable-percentage schedule for the plan year, and the federal default standard age curve applied to a state-level benchmark Silver premium.
It is an estimate, and it is labelled as one everywhere it appears. In particular it does not know:
- Your county, which is the level at which benchmark plans are actually set
- The exact ages of every member of your household
- Whether anyone is offered affordable employer coverage, which can eliminate eligibility entirely
- Your exact tax household composition and filing status
- Tobacco use surcharges, which vary by carrier and are not covered by the credit
Benchmark premiums, plan designs, carrier names, deductibles, out-of-pocket maximums, provider counts, quality ratings and testimonials on this site are illustrative. They are constructed to be realistic in shape. They are not quotes and they do not describe any real product.
Acceptable use
You may read this site, use its calculators, and reference its explanations. You may not scrape it at a rate that degrades it for others, attempt to breach or probe it, misrepresent it as a real insurance service, or present its illustrative figures as real quotes to anyone else.
Links to other sites
Links to healthcare.gov and other external resources are provided because they are the correct place to go for real coverage. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, their availability, or their own terms.
No warranty
This site is provided as is. There is no warranty of accuracy, completeness, availability or fitness for any particular purpose, express or implied. Regulations governing the marketplace change, sometimes with short notice and sometimes retroactively, and content here may be out of date at any moment.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, no liability is accepted for any loss arising from reliance on this demonstration site, including any decision made or not made about health coverage. Since no service is provided and no fee is charged, no obligation is undertaken.
Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated as the demonstration changes. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
Where to actually go
For real coverage, real eligibility and real enrollment:
- healthcare.gov, or your state-based marketplace if your state runs one
- A licensed insurance producer or a certified application counsellor in your state
- Your state department of insurance, for complaints and for verifying a producer's licence
